"I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
~Thomas Jefferson~
Take stock of these few words, spoken with conviction by a man, selfless, dedicated and above all else honest. Think on them, and ask yourself "Have I such fortutude?"

While I admire Thomas Jefferson greatly; he was not without his flaws.
Can you truly call a man "honest" who has a mistress and does a political 360 when going from elected Congressman to President?
Tuna
Tuna, all men have flaws, even I. There is no one perfect human being nor might I add are there two exactly alike.
I am amazed you did not say in a scandalous tone "but he had SLAVES" which inevitably comes up whenever discussing this great person.
Thomas Jefferson, was a man, a human being, but more than that, he was dedicated servant of this nation. He risked everything to birth this nation. He worked continually for the betterment of our fledgling country and I might add, did so without complaint. Can you argue that such dedication and a body of work is dishonest?
Let me ask you a question.
As you know something of my wild youth and how dishonest I was. Does that period of my life brand me forever as a dishonest man?
No matter I have "come around" and walked the hard road?
By your reasoning as concerns Thomas Jefferson, my transgressions as a lad disqualify me forever from being viewed as an honest man. That being the case why then should a man continue on with the proper path? Do you see where I'm going with this?
All men have faults, all men fail and falter, for they are human beings not gods. To strive, to work towards the ideal is all one can ask of any man.
Thomas Jefferson worked towards the ideal for a vast majority of his life, and through his hard work we the people of this great nation have been given the greatest gift and responsibility of Freedom. I'll deny him not the title of honest.
